The excellent Fabbri gearboxes are manufactured by Faio, a well known name in the racing scene. The high quality manifests itself in many successful races in engines above 30hp rear wheel power. The here shown offshaft has a short third and an extra short fourth gear, with an additional gearwheel for the 4th gear (for further shortening of the gear jump 3 => 4).
POLYGON?
As a special feature it has a polygon connection to the clutch hub. This allows a significantly higher torque to be transmitted with almost the same overall dimensions. This gives the Fabbri shaft a strong advantage, especially with the very high-torque engines of the new generation (Quattrini M200, Kingwelle M244 SF etc.). The only disadvantage is that you need an appropriate coupling with a hub with polygon connection. Therefore we carry clutch hubs/clutch spiders with a matching polygon connection for the very good Fabbri clutches (see accessories).
SHORTAGE
The Fabbri slave shaft, together with the 4 speed gear, shortens the gear ratios as follows:
Gear 1: Series
Gear 2: series
Gear 3: 5,8% shorter
Gear 4: 18% shorter
1st gear | 2nd gear | 3rd gear | 4th gear | |
Original V50/PV/PK | 10/58 | 14/54 | 18/50 | 22/46 |
FABBRI | 10/58 | 14/54 | 17/50 | 19/47 |
Change | 0 | 0 | -5,80% | -18% |
Gear 1-3 can be combined with standard stepped gears (Z58, Z54, Z50)
USE
On engines with rather peaked power characteristics, a sufficiently long primary can be driven for high top speed without losing the gear connection. On a circuit with a rather short primary reduction, there is always enough traction at the rear wheel, even in the high gears, in order to be able to drive out of fast driven long curves with maximum thrust.
CONCLUSION: High-quality racing technology also for fast road engines
