Ignition/alternator for models manufactured (among others) for the German market with handlebar end indicators.
On these vehicles, the original alternator has 3 coils and 5 cable outlets. Visually, it is therefore almost indistinguishable from the Italian version for models without indicators, as the cable colors are identical. However, the coil assignment is different, which is why vehicles with this alternator require a rear light bulb with 15 watts. While coil 2 is only responsible for the excitation voltage of the ignition in Italian vehicles, a double coil is used in vehicles with handlebar indicators. A curious feature of this technology is the common earth connection of this coil (yellow and blue cable).
If the brake light bulb is defective or missing, the engine cannot be started because the exciter coil has no earth connection. So if the engine goes out during braking, simply check the brake light bulb. If the bulb burns out frequently, please check whether it has more than 10 watts. If so, it should be replaced with a 15 watt version.
For models with rear lights that have a bayonet socket (press and turn), we also offer the bulb with a conventional base (BA15) (9506111).
TIP: Vehicles with self-regulating electrics (almost all contact-controlled ignitions) always require the exact bulbs/consumers specified ex works for the lighting to function properly. If lamps with a different load (e.g. 12V instead of 6V or 5 watts instead of 10 watts) are used, this can lead to all bulbs constantly burning out. This means that the load of the consumers regulates the on-board voltage. The correct bulbs are almost always listed in the wiring diagram belonging to the vehicle together with the volt/wattage. Retrofitting with a voltage regulator is generally not possible due to the different coils for the individual consumers.
