BENELLI reinforced auxiliary shaft axle for Vespa Largeframe PX, Cosa and T5

Reinforced auxiliary shaft axle for Vespa PX125, PX150, PX200, Cosa and T5 125 as well as corresponding LML and Motovespa models.

The BENELLI reinforced auxiliary shaft axle is the resilient solution for largeframe engines when the primary drive not only needs to be repaired close to series production, but also needs to be built up cleanly for higher loads. The thicker shaft in conjunction with specific thin auxiliary shaft needles results in a significantly more robust design than with simple standard axles.

Largeframe reinforced 42CrMo4V thick shaft for tuning motors

Why this auxiliary shaft axle makes sense

Reinforced design: the thicker shaft increases the load capacity in the primary drive area
high-quality material: made from extremely resilient and tempered 42CrMo4V steel
clean repair: the primary drive can thus be rebuilt to 100 percent factory specification
Mandatory part for tuned engines: particularly useful for more powerful setups and engines with higher continuous loads

Thick shaft, thin needles

This version works with a thicker axle shaft and specific thin needles to match. It is precisely this combination that makes the axle interesting for heavy-duty large-frame transmissions, because the highly stressed area of the bearing surface is designed to be more robust.

Important for every engine overhaul: Check the bearing surface

The auxiliary shaft axle has a bearing surface on which the needles of the primary bearing on the alternator side run. While the needles themselves wear surprisingly rarely, the raceway of the axle often shows the first signs of damage during overhauls.

Pay attention to pitting: Material break-outs or rough spots on the bearing surface are a clear warning signal
If pitting is visible, the auxiliary shaft axle should be replaced together with the needles
Especially when the engine is open, it is worth replacing it before the primary drive has to be disassembled again later on

Suitable for

The complete factory list is extensive. For practical purposes, a summary by model group makes more sense.

PX series: P125X, P150X, P200E, PX125, PX150, PX200, Lusso, '98, MY and later PX variants
T5: T5 and T5 Classic
Cosa: Cosa 1 and Cosa 2 in 125, 150 and 200
LML / Stella / Star: 125 2T and 150 2T
Motovespa: 125 CL and 150 CL

Conclusion

The BENELLI reinforced auxiliary shaft axle is a very good choice for large-frame engines if the focus is on load capacity and clean repair of the primary drive. The reinforced design, the high-quality material and the clear recommendation for more powerful engines make it a real must-have for sporty and tuned setups.
