Gear parts from Stefano Benelli enjoy a well-deserved reputation in the racing scene.
Anyone looking for reliable racing technology for their gearbox will find it here.
Hardened to an average of 60 HRC, Benelli components offer the perfect balance between hardness and elasticity to withstand the extreme loads of a racing engine over the long term.
The layshafts offered here for Vespa Largeframe engines (e.g. PX, Cosa, Rally) feature a sportier gear ratio than the original. The fourth, and even the third gear are shorter, which reduces the gear jumps and keeps the engine in the power band after shifting. This makes them ideal for powerful engines that need to maintain high revs in order to deliver full thrust at all times.
The Benelli layshafts can be used with the original gear wheels from PX/Cosa 125-200 models.
It does not matter whether it is the old gearbox type (offset cruciform) or the newer gearbox type (flat cruciform).
An additional option is a longer 1st gear with 55 teeth.
This is compatible with all layshafts with 12 teeth for first gear in PX models.
This gear can be used both in an old PX gearbox with offset cruciform and in the modern Lusso gearbox with flat cruciform.
This extends the first gear and shortens the jump to second gear.
Another option is the use of a 4th gear with 36 teeth.
This gear is originally used in 125cc gearboxes and can be combined with Benelli layshafts.
Benelli offers three differently spaced layshafts (bold values show the differences compared to the original gearbox):
