Engine silent blocks for engine cases of the Vespa Largeframe Rally180, Rally200, GS160, SS180.
Matching rubbers
The silent blocks offered here have the original dimensions for the Rally/GS/SS engine blocks. Also as in the original, the vulcanized sheet metal plates including 'lugs' for anti-rotation are present here.
PX200 silent rubbers in Rally/GS/SS engine cases?
The silent rubbers of the above mentioned models have slightly different dimensions than those of the later PX200 models. The contact surface of the rubbers is wider in the Rally/GS/SS models.
When using PX200 silent rubber in Rally/GS/SS engine blocks, there is a theoretical risk that the engine case can 'wander' a few millimeters sideways. In practice, this is extremely rare, but should be considered beforehand.
Sport vs driving comfort
The rubbers offered here from European reproduction have a Shore hardness of 71 Shore A compared to the original silent blocks, a quite tight rubber compound. The driving behavior is therefore very pleasantly direct and almost sporty, but vibrations are also quite clearly introduced into the chassis.
This can be remedied by drilling out the rubber on its front side (transverse to the direction of travel).
Thus, depending on the number and size of the holes, the silent rubbers can be made much softer.
