Wolfgang from Crazy Monkey Development on the genesis of the Silent Scorpion:"The origin of this product was a request from several sides to reissue Kevin Wintergrün's wide tire adapter. He had made something for it some time ago, but it no longer existed. But as I don't just copy and reissue products, I got one of them and took a look at it. I quickly realized that although the basic idea was good, the execution wasn't that great. Strictly speaking, it was just a block with two threads. What I was missing were the features and the ease of use. So I set about reworking the part a little. As I also wanted the offset area to be variable, I had to come up with something to accommodate a slotted hole without it interfering with the thread for the frame mounting. The logical answer to this was a 2-part construction, which subsequently culminated in me converting it directly into a kind of quick-release adapter. However, to ensure that the strength and stability of the construction did not suffer as a result of the two-part design, I used the dovetail joint for the first time in one of my products. Although this presented my manufacturing company with certain problems (keyword: undercut), I was able to solve this with the guys in a few hours of adaptation work.
