BGM PRO crankshaft 52 mm - forged full cheek shaft for all 90 mm Piaggio Maxi cases
The
bgm EVOLUTION crankshafts are racing shafts of the very highest quality. The completely forged shafts are finely balanced full metal shafts. Both the crank webs and the connecting rod are forged. This gives the shaft incredible durability.
In order to achieve the highest possible weight, which is extremely important for low-vibration engine running, the shafts were not fitted with plastic paddings. Instead, the crank webs were designed directly as solid shafts. This may not look as colorful, but it only has advantages. By increasing the pre-compression, the full cheek shaft ensures a better filling level of the cylinder over the entire speed range.
The bearings are in no way inferior to this top quality. The SSC racing bearings can withstand even the most extreme speed orgies. The double-slotted connecting rod with silver cage and double lubrication holes in the upper connecting rod bearing can withstand even the most brutal continuous loads. The bores are balanced with copper and aluminum weights to achieve optimum balancing. Thanks to its very high weight and the choice of balancing weights, it achieves first-class running characteristics.
Suitable for all 90mm crankshaft housings
Piaggio has used two different crankshaft types in its automatic 2-stroke engines in the 125cc-180cc displacement segment. These differ only in the diameter of the crank webs and the crank pin diameter of the lower connecting rod eye. The early engines, such as those used in the SKR, TPH and the Hexagon models of the EX series, used crank webs with a diameter of only 90 mm.
The later engines of the Gilera Runner FX/FXR, Piaggio Skipper, Hexagon LX/LXT and Italjet Dragster 125/180 series used crank webs with a diameter of 92 mm. This means that the shafts of the newer engines do not fit into the old housings. For this reason, almost all tuning crankshafts are manufactured with 90 mm cheeks (BGM, Malossi). They therefore always fit in all cases.
