The original cylinder of the PX 200GS models has been on the market for a long time. It started its career as the original Rally cylinder, which was very good for its time. With its 9.1kW at 5700rpm it allowed the Rally to reach speeds that were often enough for a speedometer reading of 120km/h.

The cylinder was however driven on these models with a fixed pre-ignition of 24°v.Ot. But the compression was reduced, so that normal gasoline could be used without problems. The compression ratio was increased from 8.8:1 to 9.8:1 within the PX series. On the Grand Lusso models of the PX series (with 9kW) the pre-ignition was reduced from initial 23° v.Ot. to approx.21° v.Ot.

The early PX series were delivered in their German version with 7kW cylinder due to the more favourable insurance class. This was achieved by turning the cylinder base at the sealing surface by approx. 1.5 mm. At the same time the cylinder was 1.5mm longer at the upper end to compensate for the turning. Thus, the cylinder was lowered, so to speak, whereby the channels and their control times were 'cut'. The result is a very beefy cylinder, which has a better torque curve than the 9kW cylinder, but does not quite reach the top speed of the 9kW version.

The GS cylinder is a nice alternative to replace e.g. the decrepit 7kW cylinder. The exhaust port of the cylinder is screwed. It is not included in the delivery and must be ordered separately (of course you can also use the exhaust port of the old cylinder)

Preis-Leistung-Qualität-Funktion-Passform sehr gut, zu dem Set sollte aber eigentlich das Nadellager und die Fußdichtung gleich dazu geliefert werden, muss dann nicht extra gesucht und bestellt werden, - insgesamt empfehlenswert, nichts zu bemängeln
