Piaggio has not manufactured the original side covers for many years - a good repro is therefore required for a clean , complete restoration. These side covers impress with their excellent fit and workmanship, which is immediately noticeable: the sheet metal parts are pressedand form a stable, even base for the paintwork. To protect the surface, the hoods are supplied oiled and are then perfect for priming.
The Spanish Motovespa models 150 Sprint and 160 GT use their own side covers. Neither the Italian Sprint covers nor the Rally covers fit here. In practice, SS180 hoods are most suitable for these models.
| Set | Left and right side hoods - individual hoods always come from a complete set (same production) |
|---|---|
| Left (direction of travel) - with luggage compartment flap | Piaggio reference 122809 (era 1965-1979) |
| Right (direction of travel) | Piaggio reference 100097 (era 1965-1979) |
Note: For import/license builds and conversions, please always compare the frame, hood mount and locking mechanism on the vehicle.
These side covers are a very convincing repro solution for Sprint/GT/GTR: pressed, cleanly finished and with a perfect fit. As a set, ideal for a complete restoration - and if you only need one side, you can get individual covers that come from a complete set. Ideal if the other side needs to be replaced afterwards. With a dry-build before painting and an epoxy-based paint structure, you create the best basis for a result that not only looks "as if made from one piece" in the end, but also gives you long-term pleasure from the restoration.
