We from Scooter Center set off to visit Erich Oberpertinger from EGIG Performance in his workshop. The result? A bunch of ingenious innovations that will make the heart of every gearshift scooter fan beat faster. Once again, Erich has been hard at work and we were able to take an exclusive look at the latest prototypes and products.
Here are the absolute highlights for the coming season:
Anyone familiar with the tried and tested 170cc cast iron cylinder will love the new aluminum cylinder. The most important new feature: the intake is now cast directly onto the cylinder. No more annoying screws that can vibrate loose and have cost many an engine its life.
Advantage of aluminum: Significantly better cooling performance. The engine runs cooler, which maintains maximum torque significantly longer when warm.
Compatibility: Plug & Play! The cylinder head and the other components can theoretically be used. However, as the piston has a new design, we recommend the complete kit.
When will it arrive? After the current "hardcore test phase" on mountain passes and highways, the series should be ready by the end of the year - just in time for next season!
There is also hot news for the absolute power faction: the 220 Revo comes with a three-piece exhaust and pushes up to 45 hp with the right exhaust! As a one-piece, the whole thing is now called "Jep 500" (dedicated to Erich's legendary race victory last year). Thanks to a new casting mold and an extremely high-quality Gilardoni coating, the package is absolutely perfect.
Mega news for you: We've got straight to the point! It's in our Scooter Center complete engines with the 220 (one-piece or three-piece) - perfectly tuned for the road or the race track.
Volume is often a major issue, especially in German-speaking countries. Erich's answer to this: the Citybox. A fully-fledged two-stroke resonance exhaust system (including counter-cone and insulating wool), cleverly camouflaged in an inconspicuous box design.
Performance: Only approx. 10-20% maximum power loss compared to a Mamba, but extremely quiet. On the 170cc it produces approx. 20 hp / 20 Nm, on the 220cc it is a crisp 25 hp / 25 Nm.
Fit: Perfect for small frames (V50, PV - the PK needs to be trimmed slightly). The exhaust gases are discharged to the ground, which makes the scooter even quieter and less conspicuous.
Forget rattling GRP covers. Erich is launching new cylinder covers using the SLS printing process (dimensionally stable, extremely heat-resistant and without annoying print lines). The sophisticated cooling design guides the fresh air directly past the hot manifold to the cylinder without unnecessarily heating up the frame or the carburetor. The hood will be available in the Highflow (flatter, perfect for standard side flaps) and Hyperflow versions - currently for the 220, the version for the 170 is already being planned!
Of course, we tried to get Erich on site for our next Open Day. He's still a little hesitant - and that's where you come in!
Write us in the comments: Do you want to see Erich with us? And more importantly: What should he bring with him? His Ciao? Or the new tuning cylinders that are waiting in his workshop?
Hit the keys - see you at the Open Day and on the road!
