Carburetor kit for Vespa Smallframe with rotary valve intake, suitable for V50, PV and ET3.
The MALOSSI carburetor kit with 2-hole rotary slide intake and 25 mm Dellorto PHBL is a very harmonious solution for powerful smallframe engines. It is not without reason that the 25 mm PHBL has been one of the most popular carburetors in this sector for years: compact, easily accessible, cleanly tunable and large enough for many powerful street and touring setups.
In many cases, a 133 cc cylinder with a rated speed of around 7000 rpm is already very well supplied with a 25 mm carburetor. This is precisely where the PHBL comes into its own: good pulling power, clean tuning and sufficient reserves for powerful smallframe engines that need to work quickly and reliably on the road.
Whether a larger carburetor really makes sense is not only determined by the displacement, but above all by the engine speed at which the engine should deliver its full power. A larger carburetor often does not increase performance on moderately revving 133cc concepts, but often worsens tunability and consumption.
Larger carburetor diameters only show their advantages when the engine really develops its power at higher engine speeds. Typical examples of this are concepts such as Malossi 136, Quattrini M1B or VMC ET6 / ET7 with matching exhaust and corresponding overall concept. Even there, however, the 25 mm PHBL often remains a very good choice because it is compact and can be used surprisingly widely in practice.
In order to utilize the full potential of the engine, the engine housing should always be adapted to the carburetor cross-section at the intake tract, as far as this is structurally possible.
If you want to build a powerful smallframe engine on a rotary valve basis, the 25cc PHBL is an intake system that can do a lot without being unnecessarily bulky or difficult to tune. This is precisely why this combination has been so popular for years.
The MALOSSI carburetor kit with 25 mm Dellorto PHBL is a very well-rounded solution for smallframe engines with rotary valve intake. It offers enough cross-section for powerful setups, remains easy to ride and is therefore the more sensible choice for many engines than an even larger carburetor.
