The Vespa Wideframe models are becoming increasingly popular. In addition to more and more reissued spare parts, there is also a lot of development in the area of performance enhancement. Until now, existing cast iron cylinders have been converted to give them a little more power with quite a lot of effort.
New Pinasco Faro Basso cylinder
Pinasco will soon be offering an aluminum cylinder with 160cc for the old Vespa engines with 3 stud bolts. Our loyal customer Andreas Nagy, who has always been a great friend of these somewhat special Vespa models, is very involved in increasing the performance of the wideframes and works closely with Pinasco in this area. He visited us on our performance test bench with a prototype of the 160cc V2 cylinder.
Secret prototype of the new Vespa cylinder
We would have liked to take an even closer look at the 160cc Pinasco. Unfortunately, the prototype of this cylinder remained hidden under the hood.
Vespa Wideframe racing exhaust
On our Scooter Center P4 test bench, we tested several exhaust systems with Andreas. Including, of course, a bgm PRO BigBox Touring exhaust for the PX models, where we modified the suspension so that it fits on the Wideframe.

10 hp and 100 km/h
Sure; in the age of a Malossi MHR, with which over 35 hp can be realized almost effortlessly on a PX, the 10 horses of this Pinasco racing cylinder don't exactly seem breathtaking. However, you should also remember the original "performance" of the wideframes! Originally, with around 5 hp, a maximum top speed of around 70 km/h was possible on a flat road. With10 hp now pulling on the small 8-inch rear wheel and a suitable primary reduction, however, performance of over 100 km/h is possible, as can be found on an original PX200, for example. We are curious to see what potential Pinasco will send the cylinder into the race with. Of course, you can find out the latest news here in our Scooter Center Blog!
