SC in Asia: A visit to Bangkok's scooter and tuning scene

Another stop on our trip to Asia took us to the vibrant hotbed of Bangkok. We really wanted to see how the scene there has developed and visit old friends.

Modern Lambretta Bangkok

While modern Lambrettas are still dormant in Europe, they are now a permanent fixture on the streets of Thailand. We were keen to visit one of them in Bangkok: that of our friend Toon

. On our last visit, our favorite, the Lambretta Café, was still open, but unfortunately had to make way for subway construction. The store and workshop are currently located in the backyard, and of course you can immediately see the connection to the original. Toon is not only a BGM importer, but also responsible for Casa Performance, which is why he had the limited Casa Performance Special Edition in the store several times. Unfortunately, he was in England himself, but the visit was still exciting.

Mottar

Mottar in Bangkok is a firm institution for Modern Vespa. The guys live Vespa and have gasoline in their blood. Not only do they maintain every model in their workshop, they also diligently rebuild them

. I was impressed by the craftsmanship of their own custom scooters, as well as rebuilt customer vehicles. Of course, they also install many BGM parts and are one of our sales partners. Anyone who wants to visit them is always welcome and can easily combine a visit with a trip to the train market.

Maxves Racing / Twinscooter

I've been following these guys on social media for a long time and really wanted to check them out on site. Two completely Vespa and tuning-crazy brothers who ride everything into the ground.

I was greeted warmly and was amazed at what was lying around. The "who's who" of the top tuning forges from Italy are being screwed together here to create the fastest Vespa engines in Asia. In addition, scooters are serviced and restored. All milling work is carried out meticulously and the results are then tested on the test bench and on the road. Big Daddy Moto Club

Another absolute authority in Bangkok's modern Vespa scene is Big Daddy. We were already impressed by his work on our last trip in 2018. It was exciting to see what has changed since then. But despite all the changes, one thing remains constant: Big Daddy still builds incredibly beautiful, top-quality custom scooters. If you're in the area, be sure to take a look!
