The PHDG 21 mm is aimed at performance-oriented two-stroke setups where a higher air flow rate is required. Within the PHDG series, this size is positioned between all-round and racing applications and is suitable for more powerful engines with clear sporting aspirations.
Racing carburetor Venturi 21 mm Plug-in connection in rubber flange Separate lubrication and vacuum connection
Like all PHDG variants, the 21 mm carburetor also uses a round venturi that is aligned with the inlet and outlet. The geometry is designed for a high air flow rate and stable flow conditions in order to achieve a powerful but easily controllable performance.
The air intake profile supports a very direct response when opening the throttle slide. Especially with high-torque engines, this ensures a precise, easily controllable response from low and medium engine speeds.
The housing, float chamber and slide are made of aluminum. This saves weight and ensures good heat dissipation, which improves the stability of the mixture preparation at higher continuous temperatures.
The float needle valve is interchangeable and available in different sizes to adjust the fuel flow to gravity or fuel pump supply. The sensitive idle mixture screw facilitates precise adjustment of the idle gas.
The aluminum slide valve is surface-treated, runs very smoothly and reduces wear. The cover and float chamber cap are surface-finished and thus combine technical robustness with a harmonious racing look.

Note: Nozzle configuration depends on version and production batch. Check idling and choke function before starting for the first time.
Many Dell'orto tuning parts from the PHBG family can also be used in the PHDG 21 mm with identical part numbers, for example 5 mm main and idle jets, AN/AU mixing tubes, W needles and 4.0 g floats. The identical Dell'orto number is the decisive indicator of compatibility.
Depending on the version, PHDG standard carburetors are available with AU mixing tube (closed) or AN mixing tube (drilled). In practice, AU variants are often referred to as "two-stroke mixing tubes" and AN variants as "four-stroke mixing tubes", but in fact the abbreviations mainly describe different mixture characteristics.
Which variant suits the respective engine depends on the cubic capacity, exhaust and intended use. The spark plug pattern and driveability are the decisive criteria for selection, rather than the designation in the data sheet.
Dell'orto PHDG 21 mm carburetor in the above-mentioned configuration (Dell'orto 09852). Depending on the version, with corresponding basic jetting and the specified calibration elements according to the manufacturer.
The Dell'orto PHDG 21 mm offers a noticeable air flow advantage over smaller sizes and is therefore a very good basis for performance-oriented two-stroke setups. Plug-in installation in the rubber flange, flexible air filter connections and the wide selection of Dell'orto tuning parts make it a versatile racing carburetor.
