Clutch -EGIG PERFORMANCE- One Finger Clutch 2.0 Pro, 6 disks, Poligon - Vespa V50, V90, SS50, SS90, PV125, ET3, PK

The EGIG One Finger Clutch 2.0 Pro is a 6-disc clutch for powerful Vespa smallframe engines and has been designed to combine high torque with low operating force requirements. The individually configurable number of springs allows the clutch to be configured in such a way that it can still be operated with one finger on the lever even in powerful setups, while at the same time reliably transmitting power up to around 100 hp.

6-disc smallframe clutch One finger clutch concept Version with Poligon hub Carbon pads

Structure and concept

The One Finger Clutch 2.0 Pro is based on a 6-disc package consisting of carbon pads and matching steel discs. Thanks to the increased friction surface, the number of springs and spring stiffness can be significantly reduced compared to conventional smallframe clutches without the clutch slipping. The result is a clearly defined separation point and short lever travel with high power transmission.

The variant described here is equipped with a Poligon hub and is intended for suitable primary drives with a corresponding mount. In conjunction with suitable peripherals, the clutch is suitable for a wide range of applications - from powerful touring engines to very sporty setups.

Spring assembly and transmittable torque

The clutch is designed in such a way that the transmittable torque can be finely scaled via the fitting of outer springs and optionally available harder inner springs. The following combinations are given as guide values:

With standard spring configuration:

  • 4 large springs: approx. 21 Nm
  • 6 large springs: approx. 31 Nm
  • 8 large springs: approx. 41 Nm
  • 8 large springs plus 4 additional springs: approx. 49 Nm
  • 8 large springs plus 6 additional springs: approx. 53 Nm
  • 8 large springs plus 8 additional springs: approx. 57 Nm

In conjunction with optional harder inner springs:

  • 8 plus 4 harder inner springs: approx. 65 Nm
  • 8 plus 8 harder inner springs: approx. 73 Nm

This allows the clutch to be adapted very precisely to the engine power, intended use and desired manual force - from comfortably light to very high torque reserves for demanding racetrack engines.

Assembly, spacer and oil

The scope of delivery includes a clutch cover spacer with a thickness of 2.5 mm. This provides the necessary installation space under the cover without having to make complex adjustments to the housing geometry. The use of a suitable oil is crucial for clean separation and defined engagement; we recommend using classic 80W90 transmission oil or SAE30 engine oil, depending on the preferred tuning and other engine peripherals.

FAQ: EGIG One Finger Clutch 2.0 Pro

Frequently asked questions

What does One Finger Clutch mean in practice?
Thanks to the 6-disc package and the modular spring assembly, the leverage can be adjusted so that the clutch is very easy to operate despite its high torque capacity. With the right engine power and a sensible choice of spring, one finger on the lever is usually enough without the clutch slipping when accelerating.
What is the Poligon version intended for?
The Poligon version is designed for primary drives with a corresponding Poligon mount. It offers a positive connection and is particularly interesting for powerful motors where the classic cone mount can reach its limits. Before purchasing, you should check which primary type is installed in the motor.
Which spring configuration makes sense for my setup?
This depends on the cylinder, exhaust, gear ratio and intended use. The specified torque values for the respective spring combinations serve as a rough guide. For touring setups with moderate performance, fewer springs with lower leverage are often sufficient, while very powerful engines should be in the upper range of the combinations.
Why are 80W90 or SAE30 recommended as oil?
Both types of oil have proven themselves in smallframe transmissions with sports clutches. They provide good lubrication of the gearbox and clutch components without reducing the friction values of the linings to such an extent that the clutch slips. Which oil is better depends on the rest of the setup and your personal impression when driving.
Do I need additional machining on the clutch cover?
The enclosed 2.5 mm spacer provides the necessary installation space in many cases without having to machine the cover itself. In the case of very tight cover geometries or special covers, we recommend a check with an assembly test before the engine is finally closed.
Is the clutch also suitable for purely urban everyday scooters?
Yes, as long as the engine setup matches the design of the clutch. The lever force can be made very comfortable with a rather restrained spring assembly, which is clearly noticeable in stop and go traffic. The upward reserves are nevertheless retained if the engine is later upgraded.
