Clutch facings Fabbri Racing
Fabbri always uses the PK XL2 facing type in its clutches, but in different versions.
Road: Organic XL2 with steel plates(FR0257)
Road/Race: Carbon XL2 with steel disks (FR0258)
Race: Carbon XL2 with aluminum discs (FR0009)
Compared to conventional (organic) pads, carbon pads require a significantly higher contact pressure to prevent them from slipping. This is why they are always used with reinforced springs. In return, however, they can withstand very high temperatures without losing their friction properties. To further increase friction, the sets are also available with washers made of Ergal (duralumin), a very tough and strong aluminum alloy. However, this pairing is expressly recommended only for racing and the short maintenance intervals usual there. For everyday/road use, the versions with steel disks are preferable.
NOTE: The dimensions of the friction discs (steel and aluminum) also correspond to those of the XL2 models, but are modified for use in Fabbri clutches (inner edge that engages in the clutch spider is stepped).
