The global scooter community is growing unstoppably, and for us at Scooter Center, visiting our local partners is always a real highlight. This year, our trip took us to Indonesia—more specifically, to Jakarta—to meet a very special partner: the team at Italian Project The purpose of our visit? Quite simply: to further strengthen the partnership and close ties between Scooter Center and our international distributors.
We toured the store in Jakarta and got an exclusive look at Italian Project’s new online store. In Indonesia, a large portion of retail takes place via e-commerce platforms like Shopify. The online store is on par with these platforms and can compete with the country’s established online shops. This allows the team to offer the Indonesian Vespa and Lambretta community a competitive platform.
Whether in the physical store on-site or while browsing the new online system—one thing immediately caught our eye: the enormous volume of items that Italian Project has directly in stock. We’re particularly proud of the strong presence of our own brand, bgm. From high-end shock absorbers to clutch parts and precision engine components—the warehouse is well-stocked.
During our conversation, it quickly became clear to us why there’s such a strong focus on products from Germany. The Indonesian market demands absolute premium quality. Italian Project’s customers aren’t satisfied with compromises; the demand for the proverbial “German quality” and engineering expertise in tuning and replacement parts is enormous. To meet these standards, the dealer imports the most important components directly from Germany.
