Colombia has a very short history in the Vespista and Lambretta world compared to any European club, but it has adopted this culture in the best way, appropriating it and promoting the creation of brotherhood through its meetings.
There is an annual celebration that brings together all Vespa and Lambretta riders in the country, a tradition that began in 2004 and since 2010 has adopted the acronym ENM (Encuentro Nacional de Motonetas) to include all the handlebar-gear, flat-bottomed scooters that are part of the culture (Vespas, LMLs, Bajaj and Lambrettas).
As a country with a large territory, the choice of location is always crucial. This year, 2024, the goal was to hold an international (Latin American) meeting, so the 18th edition took place from August 16 to 19 in La Mesa, Cundinamarca, two hours from Bogotá, the country's capital.
This allowed the participation of delegations from Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela and El Salvador.
Antonio Andrade traveled thousands of kilometers on his Vespa PX from Peru to visit the Vespa friends he had met last year and then participate in the meeting, where he met more than 200 Vespa and Lambretta riders.

Photos by: @voyde.vueltaThe Vespa Club Bogotá (with roots in the "Classic Scooter Group") is the second oldest club in the country (2005), after the Vespa Club Medellín (founded in 1999), which with roots in the Vespa Club Antioquia shows its first beginnings at the end of the 60s. Clubs that hand in hand began the tradition of meetings in the country, along with the different activities that make it up.
The "VCB" (Vespa Club Bogotá) stands out for its institutionalization, which has given stability to the different clubs. Despite all this rigour, the VCB never forgets to have fun and is the official organizer of La Vesparada, a track designed with the exact turning circle of our scooters to test the different riding skills.
An idea that was born last year and is now in its second version is a competition that awards the best "motonetas" of the event in different categories.
An activity proposed by the interesting community of all yellow Vespas @yellow squad, which consisted of a competition to test balance, drawing and memory skills, with a prize of an original 3D paper puzzle.
The Vespa market in Colombia is very different, with two crucial points:
the economic opening in the 90s, which led to the importation of Vespas PX and T5 in the country, mainly through Medellin and Cali, but whose volume was not sufficient to obtain representation and demand for spare parts, so their maintenance and the acquisition of parts has developed creativity and ingenuity very characteristically Colombian.
The second crucial point was the official representation of Vespas in the country with the arrival of the Modern Vespa, a representation that is currently in the hands of "Los Coches", but it is the SXL and VLX from India that fill the streets, Vespas that do not exist in the European market, which again means a challenge in the acquisition of spare parts.

Part of the historic center was traversed, with a trip to the north of the savannah and an impromptu stop near Villeta. This was the first year in which two meetings were held simultaneously.
The traditional one in La Mesa, Cundinamarca, with 200 scooters, where modern Vespas predominated, and the alternative one, with 167 motonetas, which took place in La Pintada Medellín, where classic scooters predominated.
A MOTONETA, AN EXCUSE
Today we want to tell you about an event that is undoubtedly a must every year, and we have just celebrated the 18th National and International Meeting of Motonetas in Colombia, which took place from August 16 to 19 in a municipality in Colombia. August in a municipality in Colombia called La Mesa, in the department of Cundinamarca, just 2 hours from Bogotá, the country's capital; it was the place chosen by the organization of this event, where we gathered with about 200 Motonetas from all over Colombia, and there were even delegations from Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela and El Salvador. All united by the same passion and with something in common: 'the love of motonetas', the perfect excuse to enjoy a weekend surrounded by a warm climate, laughter everywhere, camaraderie, reuniting with those we haven't seen since the last meeting, or simply getting to know another enthusiast who, like us, wanted to escape the routine and share. Where we are not strangers, because the fact of having a Motoneta is already synonymous with brotherhood.
A weekend in which the surprises and gifts of the sponsors could not be missing, of course Scooter Center could not miss and was present to give away through us a super useful and practical backpack, keychains, books and stickers, slow races were organized by the Vespa Club Bogotá and the traditional "Vesparada", a race of skill on our motorized vehicles. The second version of 'the indispensable', a competition organized by Escuterista, where the best motorcycles of the event are awarded in different categories. At Super Motori, we are passionate about creating community and we see each person on a Motoneta as our engine to do things, to unite the community, to share and to
always learning. But the main prize of the event was given by 4W together with other sponsors, who gave away a modern Vespa 0 km, personalized by the workshop Container Garage with an exclusive touch of the highest quality.
Without a doubt, what makes us most happy is to see the smiles of all those people watching the parade of almost 200 Motonetas, because there were from the Spanish Motovespa, the traditional Vespa PX, several Lambrettas, some Plus both original and 'Vespeadas' and of course many modern Vespas, up to the chrome Scomadi of Carlos Esquivia was present; the traffic stopped to observe so many motorcycles, people came out of their houses to greet in a friendly way, taking the opportunity to record a video, take a photo or simply ask what year the bike is from, what displacement it has or what we were doing in La Mesa (Cundinamarca), it is a pleasant feeling and one of the reasons why we like to attend the meetings, because it is the perfect excuse to give our heart that spark that gives us the fuel to continue accumulating kilometers. Where distance is not an excuse to participate, because those of us who attend these events know that it is very important; it is not for nothing that so many foreigners visit us, who are certainly very happy and with wonderful memories already waiting for the next one, signing in and planning to experience new adventures and new routes.
