Flying Snail on the long haul: Cheb and Magny-Cours
The "Flying Snail" is a Vespa GS150 (Wideframe), technically built for tough long-distance use. It has been regularly raced on European racetracks since 2024 - with a team that combines experience, speed and mechanic discipline.

8½-hour endurance Cheb (Czech Republic)
Kartarena Cheb, 8 ½ hours full load. At the start:
- Isa Menz - active in the ESC for 12 years
- Moritz Nagy - ESC champion 2025 in K1
- Julius Nagy - with experience from several endurance races
Despite phases of partial gearbox failure, the team stayed on course. In the end, they
took first place in the Wideframe class and
P12 overall. The Flying Snail has once again shown that a wideframe can also hold its own on the racetrack.
Magny-Cours: fighting spirit, pit work, limits
The Flying Snail competed again at Magny-Cours - the project is continuously in endurance trim. At the handlebars this time:
- Marco Abbate - has been riding largeframes in the ESC for over 20 years
- Moritz Nagy
- Julius Nagy
The Le Mans start was a failure: Julius slipped and the field pulled away. This was followed by a concentrated chase to
P2 in the Largeframe classagainst much stronger cars.
Then in hour 7 the damper:
gearbox damage. The team reacted immediately and changed the engine in just
35 minutes. Back on the track, the team moved up again to P12 overall.
The next scary moment came 35 minutes before the end: after a slip, Julius spectacularly rolled over - the end. Material can be fixed, experience remains.
Outlook
After the race is before the race: The Flying Snail will compete again in
2026. The goal remains to keep the Wideframe flag flying high - with clean preparation, a clear strategy and the necessary calm in the pits.
Conclusion: Cheb brought the class win and a strong overall position, Magny-Cours showed the value of teamwork and fast screwdriver work. The Flying Snail continues.
