How do you get the Lambretta shifting perfectly and smoothly
? We take a close look at the controls and what you can do from the headset to the cables to the gearbox pivot and selector lever on the engine casing. Let's be honest, the last Lambrettas left the Innocenti factory half a century ago. And not all of them were regularly serviced and maintained as they should have been. One of the many beauties of Lambrettas is that they are very easy to work on, especially with the right tools. right toolsthe the right parts and the right instructions(sticky). Within the Li family there had been various changes to the internal parts of the headset. On well-maintained bikes, most of the time can be spent taking everything apart, cleaning it and putting it in properly greased and lubricated. exploded-views Once everything is reassembled correctly and the slack - especially in the shifter housing and shifter rod - has been removed, you're done with the headset and can take a look at the cables.
Cables and wiring
Cables with Teflon/PTFE lining are essential. These run super smoothly and are maintenance-free. The bgm cable sets are made specifically for the Lambretta Li family and have some unique features. Installation instructions.pdf It is time to fit the inner cables. Use a good blob of grease on the brake and clutch levers to keep everything well lubricated. Especially the lever screw, the pivot of the inner cable and all operating and moving parts must be well lubricated. 80082001906201919062021 Lubricating the inner cables with Teflon spray does no harm and, above all, operating the clutch is much easier: G280512Tip: If the bolts of the clutch and brake levers are not greased properly, they can wear out the holes in the light switch housing and the gearshift housing. These can be easily repaired with the oversized bolt: 8900009
Transmission housing
The most important thing is to avoid unwanted slop in the transmission swivel, latch rod change and selector lever. Fortunately, there are many different choices for everyone's tasting pleasure.
