Lambretta Lui dyno days - on the test bench

The boss has come up with something: Lambretta Lui Dyno Days!

From the very beginning - since 1992 - the Lambretta has been a permanent fixture in our Scooter Center. A lot has changed in almost three decades. While in the 90s it was mainly the GP and, if necessary, other Series 3 models, the complete range from Series 1 and 2, the cardan models and right up to the Lambretta 'smallframes'* is now more popular than ever.

Especially the small Lambrettas with 50 cc displacement were completely useless until the appearance of the 75cc Casa Lambretta cylinder at the beginning of 2009 due to their extremely modest performance.

Ulfs Lui Lambrettas on the test bench

We took the soft lockdown as an opportunity to put part of Ulfs Lui collection through its paces on the test bench. We were particularly interested in how the 75 cc Casa cylinder fared against the original Innocenti 75 cc. And we were surprised ourselves at how well the 75 ccm aluminum cylinder with Nikasil coating performed.

In the performance diagram you can see a completely original Lui 50 C in the blue corner. Unfortunately, you have to look for the power curve with 2.1 hp "peak" power at the height of the torque curve of the two 75cc engines. The green curve with 4.5 hp at around 5,500 rpm was delivered by an original Vega with SH20 carburetor. The red curve is a 75cc Casa engine. The cylinder was fired with the 15 SHA carburetor kit (main jet 68). A special feature of the engine is the exhaust of the 75cc models, which is unfortunately not available new and is highly sought-after.

The result: A well-drivable engine that really makes the Lui suitable for everyday use. If you would like to know more about the Lui series, you can find the model history plus

If that's not enough, you should definitely take a look at the tuning kits and parts from our friends in Rimini at Casa Performance should definitely take a look:
