From Thailand straight to the heart of Indonesia! After my trip to "Go to Scooter" in Bangkok, I was drawn back to my beloved Indonesia. My goal: to experience the events in the country that - after Italy - breathes the greatest Vespa passion in the world.
Pure adventure: the journey is the destination
Indonesia always means adventure, and the trip to Magetan in East Java was no exception. To avoid traveling alone, I contacted the Vespisti from Solo. My host this time was the club Punk.gembala. I was incredibly excited to get to know another facet of the Indonesian scene, which apparently knows no compromises: mods are "real" mods here, extreme Vespas are absolutely extreme - and now I was immersing myself in the world of Vespa punks.
We met at midday, but February is the rainy season - and the sky kept its promise. Our 115 km tour was supposed to take the whole day. But despite the constant rain, something amazing happened: instead of riders dropping out, more and more Vespisti from other clubs joined our group along the way. The convoy got bigger and bigger!
I also came across my beloved Extreme Vespas again on the route. I have to admit: I'm now seriously thinking about adding one of them to my list of dream Vespas!
As night fell, we finally reached Magetan. Although it was a regional event, it was full throttle for two days:
Music & action: a huge stage provided a non-stop soundtrack.
Indoor show: In a sports hall there was an impressive Vespa exhibition as well as a dynamometer (Dyno).
Parts market: There was everything a mechanic's heart could desire at the typical parts markets.
Brotherhood: Above all, there was the unique hospitality and solidarity that makes the scene in Indonesia so special.
It was a wonderful event where I saw old friends again and made many new ones. Indonesia never disappoints!
