Moped XMas Tour Leverkusen: Super Bravo, mulled wine and a good cause

Festively decorated mopeds on a Christmas tour

Santas on mopeds? Yes! This phenomenon, which is called "Vespa Babbo" in the scooter scene, also exists in the shot glass class.

The Piaggio Club Leverkusen and the IRON MOFA Moped Club are organizing this event for the 5th time this year on 20 December.

The whole thing basically consists of a 25 km tour through the Leverkusen city area. Anyone who owns a classic moped or moped (scooters are unfortunately not permitted), decorates it festively and also dresses up in a Christmas outfit can take part. Then it's off through Leverkusen's urban areas at 25 kilometers per hour. Much to the delight of all onlookers, who often gather at bonfires, mulled wine stands and even with pyrotechnics on the roadsides.

The tour ends at the Christmas market in Lev Opladen, where the Santas are already expected. The most beautifully decorated moped is chosen here, which experience has shown is no easy task, as very unusual conversions are on the starting line every year.

Raffle: The Super Bravo lives again!

Highlight: Raffle of a moped ...

... that has been meticulously restored in recent months. This year it will be a Piaggio Super Bravo, an absolute care case that has been lying dismantled in a garden for several years. But as we all know, you grow with your tasks. The club members traditionally meet once a week months before the event to work on the moped in the club barn, but of course they also have a beer or two.

They started with the chassis. Unfortunately, the tank, seat and substructure were no longer salvageable. The tank and seat could still be found in some club members' stash. The situation was different with the substructure, the Super Bravo substructure and main stand are special because the wide cross tire has to be accommodated here. Standard Bravo components were used as a template here, which were then modified accordingly using an angle grinder and welding machine. Everything was then powder-coated in gloss black. Rims, levers and other components that were once painted green by Piaggio were also given a new powder coating in RAL 7026.

At the same time, other club members are working on the Super Bravo's technology. The engine and gearbox are also being overhauled. The progress of this project can be followed on the Facebook page of the Piaggio Club Leverkusen until the tour on December 20. The aim is for the Super Bravo to take part in the tour on December 20 and then be raffled off on the stage at the Christmas market. This campaign is of course supported by the Scooter Center Cologne. The boys were able to draw on the SCK's extensive range of parts. All wearing parts such as wiring harness, train set, control bearing, bearings, seals, shock absorbers etc. were provided by the Scooter Center. The SC is also providing support with prizes for the raffle, as there will of course also be consolation prizes.

The proceeds from this campaign and all donations collected during and after the tour will be donated to charity. Local charitable campaigns are always supported to ensure that the donations reach where they are needed. Last year, 4000 euros were handed over to the Leverkusen Community Foundation.
