Some already bring their job with them: Alex's success story at Scooter Center

Inclusion in practice is still uncharted territory for many companies. Here at Glessen, it has long been part of everyday working life. One particularly inspiring example of this is the story of Alex, who found his way from a workshop for people with disabilities straight into the heart of our warehouse team.

The roots lie in the school internship

Some employees bring their job with them to the workshop at REHA-Betriebe Erftland. Alex's fate was sealed early on. He completed an internship with us at Scooter Center while he was still at school. Even then, surrounded by parts, scooters and the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it was clear to him: "I would love to work here again."

This wish did not go unfulfilled. The BiAp department of REHA-Betriebe Erftland gGmbH, which focuses on vocational integration and participation, actively supported Alex in making this dream come true. Contact with Scooter Center was renewed, and the intern from back then became a permanent colleague.

A permanent team member in the warehouse

Today, Alex has been working at Scooter Center for over a year. His development during this time has been impressive. Alex is taking on more and more responsibility in the warehouse and is mastering a wide range of tasks with increasing routine. He processes new incoming goods, packs and labels items with the utmost care. He then stores the goods precisely in the specified storage locations to ensure that the ordered goods are picked quickly.

And he doesn't forget his roots: Alex continues to visit the REHA workshop once a week to take part in internal training courses and further his education.

Appreciation at eye level

The response from both sides has been overwhelmingly positive. His superiors at Scooter Center really appreciate Alex and report that he is a great support in their day-to-day work. He has long since become an integral part of the team that you can rely on.

Alex himself also feels visibly at ease. He says that he feels fully part of the team and that his work is valued here - an experience that is essential for his professional and personal development.

A role model for the primary labor market

The Scooter Center shows with Alex's success storyshows how inclusion in practice can work. All it takes is openness to inclusive projects and a willingness to create concrete opportunities in the primary labor market.

Alex reha

Incidentally, Alex is not alone with his success story. A colleague from WIR gGmbH has been supporting and enriching our team for many years. A few years ago, we were also able to recruit a colleague completely and take him on as a permanent employee. He was, so to speak, the pioneer on the subject of inclusion in Scooter Center and showed us the opportunities that open up for both sides if you just dare.

We are proud to have them all in our team and look forward to many more years together!
