Highly efficient spring check - How are your cables looking?
The birds are chirping from the trees and rooftops, the scooters are being taken out of the garage and cellar: spring is finally here. It's high time you took a look at the Bowden cables and cable sheaths on your scooter. The cables are safety-relevant! The cables usually operate the brakes, clutch and throttle on your scooter. Anyone who has ever experienced a scooter with a hanging full throttle knows what I mean. A careless move can have fatal consequences. I simply cannot imagine a brake without function. In the best case scenario, if the clutch cable breaks, you simply have to stop and change it on the spot or call for help. But it doesn't have to come to that: With a simple functional and visual check, you can minimize the risk of a broken cable in advance! Unfortunately, you often don't notice it yourself because you have become accustomed to the loss of comfort. However, the slightest crunching noises and even slightly choppy movements during operation are also noticeable. Sometimes the lever does not return to its original position completely or only hesitantly. Does your throttle grip not return by itself? These can all be signs of worn pulleys. A visual inspection of the cables is easier and more reliable. Most cables are hidden in the frame, but there are usually no problems. Take a close look at the outer and inner pulleys. If your cables look like this, it's high time to change them.

But the problem is homemade and only a matter of time: the old, original cables are very simple in design. They only consist of a thin outer sheath and a narrow metal spiral in which the inner Bowden cable runs. If the outer sheath has become brittle over the years, moisture and dirt can easily get into the cable's running track. The result is high wear and tear and stiff cables. This represents a safety risk and, in any case, a loss of comfort.

In contrast to the simple original wire rope hoists, our bgm hoists have a PTFE guide inside the outer sheath, which protects the inner sheath from moisture and dirt even if the outer sheath is damaged. In addition, the bgm PRO cable pulls are therefore particularly smooth-running in the long term.
When replacing the cable sheaths, you could now replace the original cable sheaths and spend more than 100 euros:
