The full carbon revolution from Officine Rius at the Motor Bike Expo

At the Motor Bike Expo 2026 in Verona, our sales representative met Andreas came across an exhibit that amazed the entire industry. The "Carbonika" from Officine Rius. A project that shows what is possible when high-end engineering from aviation meets classic scooter passion.

From aircraft construction to the road

Tiberio from Officine Rius gave us exclusive insights into the history of the racer's creation. The company, which normally manufactures precision parts for the aeronautical industry, invested months in developing its own molds and laminating tools. The result is a Vespa in which every detail has been trimmed for maximum weight reduction and performance.

The monocoque: a masterpiece made of carbon fiber

Instead of the traditional sheet metal frame, the "Carbonika" relies on a full carbon monocoque. We were even able to see a frame prototype at the stand directly after it had been molded. A rare sight that illustrates the enormous technical innovation of this lightweight. The scooter is powered by a water-cooled BFA 150 cc engine, the radiator of which has been seamlessly integrated into the aerodynamic fairing.

Innovative details at a glance

Further technical refinements became apparent during the tour:

• Steering tube & central lock: a complete in-house development by Officine Rius, including an innovative wheel mount.
• Push-Rod suspension: The rear suspension strut is installed horizontally and can be easily adjusted from the outside for use on the racetrack.
• Titanium exhaust: A hand-welded work of art made of titanium that perfectly matches the design of the Carbonika.
• Full hydraulics: Both brakes and clutch are fully hydraulic and are neatly integrated into the monocoque structure.
