Tool for removing the front wheel shaft Vespa
Dismantling the wheel shaft on a Vespa: The classic drawn swing arms of the Vespa were used on Italian vehicles from the beginning up to the Rally 200 model series. On other licensed models, such as the Motovespa, they were even used right up to the PX and DS series. On models with 8 and 10-inch tires prior to the PX series, the wheel shaft must be removed in order to replace the wheel bearings. On models with 8-inch tires, with the exception of the Vespa Super, the wheel shaft must also be removed to replace the brake shoes. The wheel shaft is usually firmly seated in the bearings with a press fit. The bgm Pro disassembly tool is available to ensure that the shaft itself and the swingarm are removed without causing damage.

The disassembly tool simply engages in the thread of the safety cap and has both thread dimensions. The early Vespa models have an M30x1 fine thread. From around 1960 onwards, the swing arms have a somewhat more resistant M30x1.5 thread. The mandrel for driving out the wheel shaft is fitted with a ball at the end so that the sensitive threaded stub of the shaft is not damaged when driving it out. The solid tool can also be used to pull the small wheel bearing (6201) into the swing arm. Here is an example of changing the front brake shoes and brake drum on a Vespa Wideframe. The cover cap and the attachment of the swingarm bearings are concealed under the swingarm cover.
