The BGM PRO SPORT shift cross is designed for large-frame engines, which today see significantly more torque and power than in standard condition. The special feature is the three-zone hardening: a tough core for shock loads, a firmer center zone and very hard flanks on the engagement surfaces. The aim is a gearshift cross that engages cleanly and absorbs wear in a controlled manner where it belongs - on the cross, not on the gear cogs.
Note: 58-60 HRC is deliberately in the gearwheel range. Higher hardnesses in splined gears can lead to wear on expensive gear parts rather than the cross.
BGM PRO uses 15CrMo5 (SCM415) as the base material. The case-hardening steel is tough and, thanks to its alloy content (including chromium and molybdenum), very suitable for highly stressed gear components. In combination with three-zone hardening, the result is a component that offers a clear stability reserve in everyday and sporting use.
By design, a gearshift cross is a wearing part. If gears slip or "pluck" briefly under load, this is often due to the cross, a worn shift peg or incorrect spacing. If you continue driving for too long, you risk consequential damage to the gearwheels and gearshift detent.
Note: For rebuilt engines or mixed transmission parts, please compare the version (PX old vs. Lusso) and the design of the gearshift cross.
The BGM PRO SPORT shift pad provides a clear technical upgrade to a proven transmission concept: three-zone hardening, tough base material and hard flanks for clean engagement under load. If you ride your Largeframe regularly or move powerful setups, you get a stable basis - and keep the wear where it belongs.
