ScooterLiada 2025: Classics on Tour through Asturias
As you may already know, here at Liadas Scooter Club (Asturias–Spain) we love to ride our scooters – a motto that fit perfectly with last Saturday (23 August) when we joined 85 like-minded people at ScooterLiada 2025.
Founded 15 years ago, ScooterLiada stands for a relaxed, easy-going day full of scooter passion and shared rides. Participation is open to owners of scooters built before 1990 (Vespa and Lambretta). It’s not that the more modern automatic scooters are rejected or considered worthless. It’s simply a matter of age: we celebrate the classics. Nothing personal – many participants also own and ride the more comfortable and faster scooters. That doesn’t mean these people aren’t valuable and full of contributions. We believe that there is a place for every scooter, and we hope no one sees this as an affront to self-esteem, dignity, or self-concept.

The route covered a relaxed 100 kilometers, winding along small country roads, climbing hills, passing through pretty villages, and sometimes narrowing so much that even some sidecars had to “hold their breath.”
The ride was led by a standard Li150 Series 3 Special Lambretta with electric start (as the organizer, he knew where we were going!). Then followed GS Vespas and Series 2 models, mostly standard, but all enjoying the ride. And that’s the point: beautiful Asturian countryside, roads offering breathtaking views all around, a well-planned route with hardly any traffic to disturb (or ruin the ride) – and of course plenty of vehicles of similar age, all ridden by owners who were there for the same reason.
Around 60 scooters gathered for the ride at the quiet Plaza Europa in Piedras Blancas (Castrillón), where the meeting was based. But ScooterLiada is about quality, not quantity. From “rustorations” to complete restorations, from fully accessorized to personally customized – mostly Vespas, with a handful of Lambrettas – the variety was broad, but every scooter had its own appeal.
The day was simply about the joy of riding scooters, and that’s exactly why people took part. It was truly a very pleasant day, as all attendees agreed – including riders from the west and east of Asturias, as well as many from neighboring provinces (Cantabria, Orense, Lugo, Pontevedra, Valladolid, Palencia…). Even this year, the rain held off.
