FAQ

For more than 15 years, Scooter Center has been selling BGM shock absorbers for Vespa scooters and has continuously improved them. Despite ongoing quality controls by the manufacturer and strict inspections upon goods receipt at Scooter Center, we have unfortunately discovered a safety-related defect that has led to failure in 2 shock absorbers.

In some cases, an insufficient amount of activator was used when mounting the adjustment dial onto the piston rod, which, in the worst case, can lead to the damper unscrewing itself.

Since this safety-relevant defect is not visible from the outside, we are proactively recalling the following shock absorbers for inspection, starting from the sale date of 01.2023:

  • Vespa GTS front: BGM7788NB
    Serial numbers: SC22F, SC23H, SC23K
  • Vespa GTS rear: BGM7757B
    Serial numbers: SC23K, SC23H
  • Vespa PX front: BGM7781
    Serial numbers: SC23A, SC23C, SC23K
  • Vespa PX front: BGM7781B
    Serial numbers: SC23D, SC23H, SC23J, SC23K, SC24A
  • Vespa PX rear: BGM7782B
    Serial numbers: SC23K, SC23H
  • Vespa PX rear: BGM7742B
    Serial numbers: SC23K, SC23H
  • Vespa PK front: BGM7743B
    Serial number: SC23J

(The serial number can be found on the cap of the oil reservoir next to the piston rod)

The use of these shock absorbers must be stopped immediately to prevent property damage and personal injury.

Your safety and honest communication with our customers are very important to us. Please return the shock absorbers to us as soon as possible. We are providing free return labels with this message for your convenience.

An invoice is not required. We can clearly identify the shock absorbers using the engraved serial number on the cap of the oil reservoir.

The following options are available for handling the return:

If you purchased the shock absorbers from Scooter Center:

  • Exchange for new shock absorbers with full warranty. This will be possible from the end of July 2024.
  • Credit for the invoice amount. An invoice is also not necessary in this case, as we can verify the purchase through your customer account. This option is only available if you bought through an existing customer account.

If you purchased the shock absorbers from other companies:

  • Exchange for new shock absorbers with full warranty. This will be possible from the end of July 2024.

If the shock absorber is no longer in your possession, please forward this notice to the current owner or provide us with their address so we can contact them.

If you have questions about the process or need a temporary replacement shock absorber, please email us at recall@scooter-center.com

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and trouble this may cause you, and we ask for your understanding regarding this unfortunately necessary step.

There can be no compromises when it comes to personal safety.

Thank you very much and best regards,
