Powerful 102cc grey cast iron cylinder for all Vespa V50, SS50, PK50 S, PK50 XL, PK50 XL2 (not automatic) Large Ø55mm bore which, with the standard stroke of 43mm, gives a full 102ccm capacity. The cylinder with 6 overflow channels has a sporty compression ratio of 12.5:1. This, together with the humane control angles of the Malossi cylinder of 108°/160° A.S./AS, results in an already decent effective compression and provides a powerful, high-torque speed range.
Malossi recommends for a full power delivery to modify the original crankshaft to open the intake earlier. A measure which is also achieved by the assembly of a racing crankshaft and also brings with it a more speed-resistant bearing of the connecting rod.
As a carburettor we recommend at least one SHB16/16, a SHB19/19 carburettor kit lifts the possible power output again additionally. Malossi recommends to modify the PK models with standard plastic air filter. For this purpose an additional row of holes (4 pcs.) with Ø11mm diameter is drilled according to the instructions.
The ignition setting is given by Malossi as 16°f.T.H.
The primary reduction ratio of 24/58 (2,41) recommended by Malossi is probably a misprint and more than too long. We recommend here the classic 24/72 (3,00) primary.
The Malossi harmonizes very well with classic banana exhausts due to the outlet angle of 160° or, in case of the PK models, also well with the SITO Plus or BGM Touring exhaust. Pure resonance racing exhaust systems, such as L&S Franz or PM40, are reserved for the larger cylinders, such as the big brother of the Malossi102, the MHR136.
Tightening torque cylinder head bolts: 14Nm
FAZIT: Powerful but sporty grey cast iron cylinder with a wide speed range and a lot of power in the middle of the rev range.
