An ingenious and simple way to repair M6 threads in cast aluminum and similar materials. The damaged thread is drilled out, and a new thread is cut using an M10x1.5 tap.

To install the threaded insert, you’ll need an M6 nut and screw. First, screw the nut onto the screw, followed by the threaded insert. The nut is locked against the threaded insert, and the threaded insert can now be secured with threadlocker. 

Perfect for the M6 stud threads on the engine cover. When performing the repair, make sure to drill out to the correct length and cut the thread accordingly. After installation, be sure to check whether the sealing surface is still flat. If not, file the surface smooth. Otherwise, it will leak...
