A brilliant and simple way to repair M7 threads in cast aluminum and similar materials.
The damaged thread is drilled out to 8.5 mm or 8.7 mm, and a new thread is cut using an M10x1.5 tap.
To install the threaded insert, you’ll need an M7 nut and screw. First screw the nut onto the screw, followed by the threaded insert. Tighten the nut against the threaded insert, and then secure the threaded insert in place with threadlocker.
The threaded insert is perfect for replacing the M7 threads on the Lambretta transmission cover plate. Make sure to drill to the correct depth and insert the bushing so that it sits flush with the mounting surface for the cover plate.
