Savage Scooters dives into the Lambretta universe: a top-class tuning project

From Vespa to Lambretta: Savage Scooters takes the plunge

Anyone looking for Vespa tuning videos on YouTube will inevitably stumble across Savage Scooters. Kevin, the man behind the channel, is known for his detailed PX tuning projects and breathtaking custom bikes. But this time he's venturing into new territory: Lambretta tuning! In collaboration with us from Scooter Center, we created an exciting video series that focuses on Kevin's first Lambretta - a Spanish Serveta 150 LI. From disassembly to the final engine test with the RT195 cylinder - it's all here!

The idea: A Lambretta project with Savage Scooters

Kevin approached us with a clear vision: a video series that not only presents high-quality Lambretta parts, but also shows how to build a Lambretta engine step by step. In addition to our product descriptions, installation instructions and jetting tips (all available for download at scooter-center.com), the series will hopefully provide practical insights. What initially looked "easy" - as always with the videos from Savage Scooters. Posch Performance & Co. - turned out to be a real challenge. However, Kevin's powers of persuasion are so strong that he was even able to persuade the camera-shy Philipp to take part.

Step by step to the RT195: the path to the engine

The video series begins with the disassembly of Kevin's Lambretta 150 LI (Serveta). In the first three parts, the engine is dismantled, parts are inspected and sorted out where necessary:

Part 1: My first Lambretta

The start: Disassembly and first impressions.

Part 2: Continuing the disassembly

Deeper into the details.

Part 3: Completing the disassembly

The frame is free, the project is taking shape.

The idea of building a standard RT195 engine was born during the inspection. bgm PRO 195 RaceTour cylinder topped off with the bgm PRO crankshaft, clutch, ignition and exhaust. Target: approx. 18-19 hp. To be tested on the in-house P4 Amerschläger test bench. The planning phase is recorded in this video:

  • Lambretta RT195 project - The vision for the engine takes shape.

The construction: Four chapters to the final engine

The path to the finished RT195 engine was no walk in the park. In four further videos, Kevin shows how the engine is built piece by piece:

Part 1: Crankshaft & cylinder
The foundation stone is laid. The crankshaft and cylinder are installed. The crushing edge is determined and the top end takes shape.

Part 2: Fan housing & gearbox
Precision is everything. Maghousing and gearbox are assembled and the correct gearbox clearance is determined and adjusted.

Part 3: Silent blocks & clutch/chain

The new Lambretta engine is slowly taking shape. The bgm silent blocks are being fitted and, together with the precisely balanced shaft, will ensure low-vibration engine running in the future. The bgm Superstrong clutch, chain and tensioner are installed.

Part 4: Ignition & rear brake

The last details before the final. The bgm PRO ignition with pole wheel made in Germany and the rear brake are installed. The tension is rising and how many horses the engine will soon let off the paddock.

In the grand finale, the engine is tested on the test bench:

  • Final: RT195 engine - The horses are counted and the prediction of 18-19 hp is put to the test and a surprise awaits...

Conclusion: A must for Lambretta fans

The video series from Savage Scooters is a real highlight for anyone who loves Lambretta tuning or wants to try their hand at such a project themselves soon. From disassembly and assembly to the final test bench, Kevin shows how to build a powerful engine with high-quality parts from Scooter Center and a little know-how.
