Horns and buzzers with 6V and 12V for the Lambretta Li family and their mounting

Considering the 14-year production span of the Li family – starting with the TV 175 Series 1 in September 1957 and ending with the dl / GP 200 in April 1971 – the variation of horns and buzzers as well as their mounting on the Lambretta frame is not that confusing.

First of all, it should be mentioned that there are either buzzers (for AC systems with alternating current) or horns (for DC systems with direct current, recognizable by the battery). All Lambretta scooters were originally delivered with 6 V electrics. When converting to 12 V systems, the original buzzers and horns continue to work perfectly even with the now available 12 volts. However, a “horn orgy” should be avoided, otherwise they will sooner or later stop working.

Series 1 and early Series 2 models up to July 1960

On all Series 1 and Series 2 models up to July 1960, the bracket for the horn is welded directly to the frame and looks like this:

is bolted directly to the frame and decoupled from the frame with two rectangular anti-vibration rubbers.

Series 2 from 07/1960 and Series 3 until the end of 1967

During the production period of Series 2, the horn mounting was changed. The welded bracket with two screw connections was replaced by a rectangular block with an M8 stud bolt. A mounting plate, often called a Y-bracket, is attached to it.

This special bracket was not available as a reproduction for a long time, but Timo from TD Customs took care of it and supplied us with it:

Since the mounting of the late Series 2 is identical to Series 3, the mounting plate of Series 3 can also be used with the corresponding horn:

Series 3 from 1968 and dl / GP

From 1968 onwards, the mounting was simplified and the Y-bracket was replaced by a bracket welded to the frame.

To decouple the horn from vibrations, special Allen screws and anti-vibration rubbers are used:

Part no.: CLE66E

Large horns

Originally, the real DC horns had a diameter of 85 mm. Occasionally we also get Casa Lambretta versions:

Part no.: CLE66BL
Horn - GPM 6V/12V AC
Part no.: CLE66AL
