VMC RANGER Racing Cylinder Ø69 mm – 213/225 cc for Vespa PX200, Rally 200, Cosa 200
The VMC Ranger is a powerful alternative to the well-known Malossi Sport 210. With innovative features and a well-thought-out design, it offers an impressive combination of power, torque, and touring capability.
This cylinder was developed as a sporty touring cylinder. Its large transfer ports ensure high performance potential, while the moderate timing delivers early and typical Vespa-style power characteristics. This allows the Ranger to operate in a similar rpm range as a stock cylinder, but with significantly more power and torque.
Thanks to the generous ports, the Ranger benefits from any optimization of the intake and exhaust systems. The standard SI24 carburettor is completely sufficient, but a crankshaft with extended intake timing is almost mandatory to fully exploit the cylinder’s potential.
The cylinder can be used with both a 57 mm and a 60 mm long-stroke crankshaft thanks to the supplied spacers. Using a long-stroke crank slightly increases the timing, giving the engine not only more displacement but also noticeably more power.
With its mild timing (118°/176°), the Ranger harmonises perfectly with box exhaust systems such as the Polini Box or the BGM Touring Box 2.
The VMC Ranger features a specially shaped exhaust port with a convex curvature at the top. This design has been optimised through extensive testing to ensure an ideal torque curve and powerful acceleration.
VMC explicitly recommends no modifications to the exhaust port as this can negatively affect the optimal power delivery.
The cylinder head is equipped with radial cooling fins, similar to Quattrini’s M232/M244. The 8-bolt mounting ensures a perfect seal, while a high-quality Viton O-ring reliably seals the combustion chamber.
The central spark plug position ensures uniform combustion paths, resulting in clean and efficient combustion.
The VMC Ranger is an exciting alternative to the Malossi Sport 210. With its wider exhaust port as standard, it delivers more power than the Malossi, though it is slightly louder. Its well-thought-out design makes it ideal for anyone looking for a powerful yet touring-friendly solution for their Vespa PX200, Rally 200, or Cosa 200.
