The BFA/FRT 244 Resonance Exhaust is designed for high-performance Vespa small-frame engines based on the BFA-244 cylinder. The large-volume resonant system is designed for high intake volume and correspondingly high power output, and is also suitable for comparable 244-cm³ engine configurations such as the Kingwelle 244 and similar setups.
The system is routed as a left-hand exhaust and is made of clear-coated steel. The silver rear muffler provides a technically clean finish. Despite its performance-oriented design, the system remains compatible with the storage compartment.

The exhaust is primarily designed for the BFA 244. Due to its dimensions, it is also suitable for comparable high-performance small-frame engine setups in this displacement class.
These include, for example, engines based on a Kingwelle 244 as well as similar 244-cm³ setups, provided that the exhaust port, vehicle geometry, and other peripheral components are compatible with the system.
Large-displacement small-frame engines place high demands on the exhaust system. Cross-sections, taper geometry, and resonance length must be matched to the engine’s high gas flow rate. The BFA/FRT 244 is therefore designed as a true resonance system for this high-performance displacement class.
Unlike a classic box-style exhaust, this system features a distinct resonance geometry. The shape of the manifold, diffuser, center section, and counter-cone utilizes the pressure waves in the exhaust tract to support cylinder filling within the intended RPM range.
As a result, the BFA/FRT 244 is designed for engines where high specific power and sporty performance characteristics are the primary focus.
The system is routed on the left side of the vehicle. This left-hand routing is a characteristic feature of the BFA/FRT 244 and creates the necessary installation space for the generously sized resonance chamber.
Despite the large-volume resonance system, the exhaust is compatible with the trunk. This means that, with a suitable vehicle and engine configuration, the original trunk can be retained.
The BFA/FRT 244 is not compatible with wide tires. When planning the vehicle, therefore, a standard or narrow wheel and tire configuration that is compatible with the exhaust system should be selected.
The resonator is made of steel and finished with a clear coat. This preserves the typical technical appearance of the welded resonator system. The rear muffler is finished in silver.
For certain small-frame models, a frame modification may be necessary depending on the engine housing, cylinder, and vehicle frame. Therefore, before final installation, check the clearance of the exhaust, frame, tires, and storage compartment on the specific vehicle.
