POLINI Racing Rotary-Valve Crankshaft for Vespa PX200, P200E, and Cosa 200. Specially designed for the POLINI 244 cm³ gray cast iron cylinder 140.0241 with a 60 mm stroke and an extra-long 127 mm connecting rod.
The POLINI Racing Crankshaft 210.0095 was developed specifically for the POLINI 244 cm³ gray cast iron cylinder 140.0241. With a 60 mm stroke and an exceptionally long 127 mm connecting rod, it forms the design basis for the new large-frame cylinder concept with a 72 mm bore.
In addition to the long connecting rod geometry, a special feature is the clutch-side splines, which are designed to work with the POLINI HT clutch system. The crankshaft is designed as a rotary-slide crankshaft and is intended for use with compatible Vespa 200 engine cases.
The exceptionally long connecting rod enables the unusual cylinder geometry of the POLINI 244. Thanks to the increased overall height, significant portions of the transfer ports can be accommodated within the cylinder itself. This eliminates the need for a classic cylinder base that protrudes far into the crankcase.
The crankshaft is therefore not a standard PX200 long-stroke crankshaft. Conventional 60-mm crankshafts with short connecting rods are not readily suitable for this cylinder.
The 210.0095 is designed for intake valve control via the crankpin shoulders. The actual intake timing depends on the geometry of the engine case used and should be measured during engine assembly. Tuning to the carburetor, exhaust, and desired engine characteristics is recommended.
Unlike conventional PX200 crankshafts, the POLINI 210.0095 features a special toothed design on the clutch side instead of the standard PX clutch mount.
POLINI specifies the toothed clutch hub 230.0506 in combination with the POLINI HT Clutch for this purpose. A conventional PX clutch cannot therefore be used without modification.
Important: When assembling the engine, the crankshaft, clutch hub, and clutch must be compatible with one another. For other clutch systems, compatibility with the special toothing should be checked in advance.
An interesting alternative for the POLINI 244 cylinder is the BGM PRO BGM031128G. It also has a 60 mm stroke but uses a 128 mm-long connecting rod and a conventional PX clutch stub.
The main advantage is significantly greater flexibility in clutch selection. Instead of being limited to the specific POLINI tooth profile, standard compatible PX clutch systems can be used.
The connecting rod, which is 1 mm longer, also allows for precise cylinder positioning using appropriate base and head spacers. This makes it possible to adjust the valve timing angles to the desired engine configuration. The compression edge and mechanical clearance must be rechecked in this process.

The POLINI installation instructions for the 244-cm³ cylinder do not specify the need to drill out the crankcase separately for the crankpin journals. However, when using this cylinder, adjustments to the transfer ports on the engine case, the base gasket, and the cylinder are required. This also applies to POLINI engine cases.
Before final assembly, note the following:
Note: The crankshaft is designed for the POLINI 244 cylinder configuration. The special clutch mounting must be taken into account when selecting additional components.
