PX125/150 engine housing - recast, ready for rebuilding

If the old PX housing is cracked or the sealing surfaces can no longer be saved, this newly cast engine housing is the solid basis for a clean rebuild. Precisely machined and ready to install - for classic Vespa setups without separate lubrication, with the option of an electric starter. Manufactured by a former LML OEM supplier.

Fits the following models

Largeframe Vespa from approx. 1957 to 2016 (Cosa excluded)
Direct replacement for Vespa PX125 and PX150 (old and Lusso)

Advantages

Newly cast: no old parts, clean sealing surfaces, long service life
Without oil pump connection: ideal for 2-stroke mixture 1:50
E-starter prepared: can be fitted or closed with cover plate
Up to 187 cm³ possible: with 60 mm long-stroke crankshaft
Plug-and-play compatible: with PX80-PX125/PX150 crankshafts and transmission parts of the PX old (125-200 cm³, 1982-1984) and PX Lusso (1984-2016)

Technical background

The housing corresponds to the design of a PX125/150 without separate lubrication. It can be integrated into PX models with oil pump if the oil tank is removed or the lines are sealed (classic 1:50 mix). The mounting points correspond to the Largeframe models since the end of the 1950s, so conversions to modern components are possible.

Gearbox recommendation

For everyday use and touring, we recommend the BGM gearbox in Lusso configuration. In combination with a suitable primary, the setup can be easily adapted:

125 cm³ standard setup: 20/68 or 21/68
Long-stroke 187/190 cm³ (e.g. BGM177 with 60 mm): 23/63 to 24/62
PX200 upgrade to 221 cm³ (with adapter kit, box exhaust): 23/62 to 25/62

Technical highlights

Double sealing of the kickstarter shaft
Clean rotary slide surface for precise sealing
Groove on the shaft seal seat (on the clutch side)
External shaft seal ring on the drive shaft
Short sealing surface on carburetor connection (like PX from '84)
Very clean casting quality and flat machined sealing surfaces
CDI holder and fan wheel cover of the E-Start version are required for E-Start use

Scope of delivery

Brand-new motor housing, ready for installation
Pre-assembled silent rubbers
Pre-assembled stud bolts (cylinder, shift detent, housing halves)

Installation instructions

E-starter provided? The holes and threads are prepared. If you are driving without an electric starter, close the opening in the fan duct with a separate sealing plate (not included).

Recommendation for completion

The BGM engine revision kits (bearings, shaft seals, gaskets) are ideal for rebuilding. In conjunction with a Lusso gearbox, a robust, long-distance capable setup is created.

FAQ

Yes. Shut down the oil pump (remove the oil tank or close the lines) and mix in the classic 1:50 ratio.
Yes, with the exception of the Cosa. Depending on the model, minor adjustments may be necessary (e.g. peripherals).
From approx. 1968 onwards (gear lever with needle bearing B188) the gearboxes are plug-and-play. For PX setups, we recommend the Lusso gearbox.
No. The opening in the fan duct can be sealed with a sealing plate (available separately).

Note: Clean ground points, correct torques and deburred edges on the sealing surfaces are basic requirements for a permanently leak-proof engine.

This is how we ensure, that reviews come from real consumers.
